Organizing your Closet. Done and Done.

Tired of fighting with brooms and mops every time you open the closet door?  Do you have to wear a football helmet for fear something will fall on your head from an overhead shelf in the closet?  No idea where the right cleaning supplies or extra paper towels are?  Now is a great time to get your utility closet organized so it really works for you…

photo 2 When organizing or planning any space, think vertically to get the most of your space.  Hang a mop and broom organizer on the wall to get these off the floor – the tools will dry more quickly, stay cleaner and are easier to find when you need them.  Cautious about adding hardware or hooks to a space?  Try using Command Adhesive hooks – they hold various weights and are a great way to hang “hangable” items like a dustpan that already has a hole for hanging.  Is the hole too small or not at the right angle?  Add string or twine to add length for hanging.

photo 1Don’t have a utility closet in your space?  No problem!  You can outfit the stairwell to the basement or garage with the right organizing tools to keep your items on hand and organized.  Most walls can be utilized for storage by using the space that already exists.  Mounting hooks are easy and versatile but you can go with something as simple as a nail or screw as long as it will hold your items securely.   Think about what you want to store in that space – vacuum cleaner parts, plastic bags, step stool, fire extinguisher, recycling bin – whatever will make your life easier and your space more organized.
